We Have Arrived! – Day 2

We are here in Haiti! Thank you to all who have been praying and to all who continue to pray. We are certainly praying for our dear ones in Indianapolis. Yesterday had an eventful start to it. We got to the airport and the majority of us were on our best behavior while others of us received one of TSA’s pat downs (Mark) and a trip to the principal’s office (Beckie) for not remembering the extra ziplock bag full of liquids when she decided not to check her bag! Last night (Friday) after a safe flight to Miami, we sat poolside with our beloved friends Linda and Bob Smith for devotional time. It was so wonderful to fellowship with them!

This morning came very quickly and before we knew it, it was 5:30am and we were headed for the airport. We got through customs and were taken to a secure area where we met another mission team traveling to Haiti! All 29 of us (they had 15 and us, 14) hopped aboard a shuttle bus that took us to our little propeller plane. My first thought was, “I wonder if tiny propeller planes have an autopilot mode or if that guy in front is REALLY going to be flying this little toy of an aircraft!?!” I quickly became calm when I thought about how God is the actual pilot. He was already revealing Himself to me and reminding me of His Sovereignty before I was even airborne.

Flying into Haiti we could see God’s perfect artistry. This country is beautiful and the Lord’s children who reside here are showing us how to see God in a new way. Today was a full day with lots of controlled chaos. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for us tomorrow!

Love from Haiti!
