It has been a whirlwind of activity since we arrived here late Saturday night. Between unpacking and sorting hundreds of prizes for family night to filling 40 food bags, we have been on the move. And, while we’ve been working, God has been working in us. We all have amazing experiences to share, but I’ll give you just one of mine so far.
We spent several hours at Rey Solomon distributing gifts, taking our sponsor kids out for lunch, and getting lots of pictures of the school staff, the medical clinic under way there today, and more. While Doug and Rod were photographing the high school kids, Barb and I were able to spend some time in Marvin’s class with the high school English students, playing games and doing a little teaching through fun and games. As we finished up and were leaving, one young man who spoke English very well, stopped me to ask why we were so interested in spending time with them. Without a hesitation, God gave me these words…
God has given me a heart for the young people of Nicaragua. I love your country and I know that you all are the future. If I can spend any time here, teaching and equipping you for a bright future, I am truly blessed.
His name is Alex and when I told him I would see him on my next visit to his country, I got a big smile and a big hug. I don’t know why God has given me this calling, but I am so grateful to be able to spend this time in this place, I am sometimes speechless.
Thanks to all at home who make it possible for us to share God’s love.
