Nicaragua – March 2015 – Day 1

It has been an amazing 24 hours!  We landed Saturday night, and arrived at La Quinta Shalom for a 1 night stay, before moving Sunday afternoon to La Quinta Primavera for the remainder of our week.

By 6 p.m. Sunday evening we had decorated a church and hosted a wedding for 20 couples (complete with cakes, gifts, pictures and music.)  In a continuation of the marriage seminar series started a year ago, Theresa led an afternoon seminar, complete with handmade tool belts, aprons and gift bags to illustrate the tools needed for a successful marriage.  Half the team stayed behind at La Quinta to sort all the sponsor kids gifts, put together 20 bags of food for distribution, do the grocery shopping for the team, and make 40 sandwiches for our adventures on Monday.

I am always amazed at how God pulls all the details together for us.  What seems like an insurmountable amount of work always comes together perfectly in the short time we have.

Pray for continued energy and health for this team over our next 4 days.  The physical toll of work plus heat, combined with all the emotions can be exhausting.   But we count on Payton, Will, Kendall, Grace and John to jump in with all the enthusiasm of teenagers to keep us moving.

More to come throughout the week as we work with Dr Karla, distribute sponsor gifts, spend time with our sponsor kids, visit Joshua 1:8 and see the market before takeoff Friday morning at 7 a.m.!
